I tried dropping these two to 25 but it meant that it was almost impossible to revive anybody with the defibrillator since they respawned so quickly!  Reset back to 50.

I tried to find more information on these two settings but the best I could find was this:

It sounds like I should lower playerRespawnTime and leave the playerManDownTime at 50.  I guess the "down time" one is how long you are dead and staring at the death camera view of your twisted corpse.  Not sure what the "respawn time" one is about since I thought you could spawn as soon as "Deploy - Squad - Loadout" screen appears.

Suggestions?

I was playing on the OG1 server yesterday and loved the new settings. Its a keeper!  :supporter

That’s interesting Nordic.
So if you have PlayerRespawnTime to 50
And PlayerManDownTime to more then 50, lets say 200.
You can then choose to respawn or wait for your m8's to rez you.

I didn't notice any changes :cartman

But 3d inf spotting was definately turned ON. I know for a fact that I on several occations was able to spot enemy infantry.  Never mind though. You peeps decide on settings, and I shall say nothing about it :)

Personally I'd prefer if 3D spotting could be enabled just for vehicles as it's super handy when flying in a jet or chopper but at the moment it's just a single on/off setting.  Maybe they will change that with a future update and then we can look at changing it again.

I'm not sure about that, it's easy to test as changing either of these values seems to take effect instantly unlike some of the other settings which only happen when the next round starts.  Definitely worth trying out, plus if it works then it means lots more dead bodies lying around ^_^

3D spotting for vehicles is a nice thing, I don´t think we should or want to run a server without that.
But for infantry, I think if it is possible, we should take it away or reduce the time it lasts.

I didnt notice any changes on the server yesterday? :P

And talking about respawn time and such, I hope that what you are experimenting with is what Snow talked about in the post further up.

I hope what your are NOT experimenting with is to lower the respawn time over all. Because then it would be impossible to break down defences and advance forward and capture points.

I might add though that with no Kill Cam, I hate the fact that the camera stares into a wall or something for 10 sec, and then you get to the deploy thing and has to wait another 3sec. I hope Dice fixes this so that you can customize your class or something during this "Death Cam" time. I guess with the possibility to revive, this could end up weird.

There's no option for that at the moment, it's just 3D spotting on or off.  I have read a load of other posts on the battlelog forum about this, maybe they will change it further down the road so we can have more control.

That works both ways.  Will leave the PlayerRespawnTime at 50 as that seems reasonable.  Will jimmy with the PlayerManDownTime tonight maybe.

The one I really wanted to shorten was the delay after a new map has started.  You know when we are all just locked in place and jumping up and down.  That doesn't appear to be controlled by either option unfortunately.

I don´t think it does work both ways.
For it to work both ways, the attacking team has to have a close spawn point such as a surviving squad member or a beacon. Wich rarley happens in public play (in a reliable way).
So it will end up with the defenders, who can spawn on the flag, to have too rapid reinforcements.
Just imagine the B flag on Grand Bazaar. Even if you manage to clean that flag as it is NOW. Chances are that the enemy will respawn on the B flag before you have neutralized it. Shorten the respawn time and it will be impossible.

Why would you want to shorten it? Some people load slower than for example you and me. Some people as it is now hasn´t even finished the loading part before the game has started so they spawn way later than everyone else.
If you shorten this load timer, you will give an advantage to people with better connection and better computers. They will rush the objectives before alot of people has even finished loading the map.

If you can find a setting to change that one, please go ahead. As for the other spawn/respawn settings, please leave them at their original settings, since those settings are rather balanced atm.

I know what you mean about it being a bit unfair for people with slower connections/systems but then I had to play like that all the way through BC2 when I was running on my old system.  By the time I had first spawned the first flag would of been taken.

On the other hand, now that I have a wicked fast system, boo-hoo , time they upgrade  :banana

Don't think I'll change the PlayerManDownTime value from 50 as I paid closer attention to it last night.  That is the time that you are dead and revivable but you are staring at the wall or floor wherever you died.  In softcore this is when you are dead and watching your killer.  You can't do anything useful during this time like change your weapon loadout.

ProCon admins take note - the "Round restart player count" and "Round start player count" values can not be set to 1 or 0 as this will result in the servers crashing.  Minimum value for both should be 2.  I noticed that server #1 was set to 0 and 1 so I've changed those back to 2.  This could explain why server #2 has crashed if that was set the same way.

Also, for all those using ProCon, make sure to do Tools->Check for updates in the top right corner to ensure you are using the latest version.

I guess this means for now, server #1 is done.

Here's some things that don't work as expected btw, I read these whilst researching the other stuff:

  • Reserved slots - We have set this up on the server but it has not been enabled by Dice/EA yet so it does nothing.
  • Admin Yell command - This is when you want to print a message across the middle of the screen to either everybody or a single player.  This hasn't been enabled by Dice/EA, not sure it ever will be.
  • Ace squad and soldier announcer - The plugin is enabled but it does nothing at the moment in game.  If it did then it would just show up in the chat channel.
  • Spam plugin - Disabled this on both servers per DDs request.  This was the annoying thing that kept printing about how the server was sponsored by Dice/EA in the chat window every few minutes.
  • Team balance - Enabled on the server but not actually enabled by Dice/EA yet so at the moment there is no balance.  The other team never has a chance anyhow when I am playing!
  • Auto Team Killer Kicking - is not enabled.  I don't remember why except it was a bad idea to enable it at the moment.
  • Kick voting - is enabled.  Anybody can use it.  Just type @votekick into the chat channel and it will initiate a kick vote.  There is also @voteban but that is disabled as it can be dangerous in the wrong hands ^_^

No, I ment in the game... When a round finnishes I usaly go out for a smoke... and when I get back I´m kicked. Don´t know what the in game timer is right now, maby 2 min?

It's 300 seconds which is like 12 hours or something.  I increased it to 53 seconds which is way longerer.

On a side note.  ProCon access should be restricted with a breathaliser as I've been drinking for hours and hours.  Yay for fridays!
